I looked at the folder this morning, and it ordered the files instantly then a few minutes later it does not - it's still processing the folder as I type this.

Have you rebooted in a while? Does this issue occur on another user profile? Yes, I reboot everyday. However, it seems that it may be a problem with Novell - apparently the thing to do if it starts doing the green line of tedium is to open a second explorer window and that should be OK.

I've not experienced the problem again, so can't confirm if that works, but I'll write back when I can. I'm having this same problem. It just started today, and it seems to be a problem with folders on my server -- Windows Home Server. When I click on Date Modified to sort a folder, the green progress bar starts its slow creep across the address bar in Windows Explorer. I don't even see my C drive listed! But other times when I open a new Explorer window, everything is fine and as usual.

I can't figure out what I've done to cause this to start happening. I did put a new harddrive into a different computer that's attached to my server. I also updated AVG yesterday, but this just started happening today. This also doesn't fix it: Then go to the "Customize" tab and under "Optimize this folder for:" set it to "General Items" and optionally check to apply to the subfolders.

Just to clarify, is your issue specifically in regards to a home network with Windows 7 or Windows Home Server? If there were a way to cross-post in these groups, I would. But there's not.
